Hello, I've been away for awhile.

June 19th, 2013 at 06:31 pm

Hi you guys.

I'm sorry I haven't posted in ages. I fell into a depression, but now I'm back. What helped is my nephew, who can't find work in Michigan, moved in with me. He's looking for work here, but he also does housework, he cleans, he does the lawn, he does his own laundry, he cooks (yum yum) and its a joy to have him around. (He is also thrifty!)

My mortgage debt is down to $86K from the original of $93. I keep no credit card debt, but pay off my card every month, and I now have $20K in savings in my emergency unemployment fund and $1000 in my emergency fund.

My ex-husband started bugging me by email and phone as soon as the restraining order expired. I haven't responded to his overtures (he's married for pity-sake), and I am contemplating another restraining order. He doesn't threaten me, he just demands that I forgive him. I think he just ran through the settlement and wants more money, and while I am working on forgiving him, I will never trust the man and see no reason to have a relationship with him.

I still have 4 rescue dogs, and now a nice nephew.

Life is good.

Good to hear from you! Sounds like your finances are very similar to mine. I don't have a live-in nephew, though! Sounds like it's working out well.

Welcome back. wish I could rent your nephew for a few hours, he sounds like a gem. What's his premiere dish? Best thing about e-mails is that it's so easy to hit the 'Delete' button. Are you working? Are you enjoying the challenges? I hope you're working with a good group. Look forward to hearing how you'vet managed to make such a good dent in the mortgage.

Missed your posts, Pat! I'm really glad to hear you've made it through your depression, and it sounds like your nephew is great to have around the house. I'm sorry about your creep of an ex-husband. Would it be hard to get another restraining order without him saying something threatening? Good luck on dealing with that.

So far my nephew made pizza from scratch that made me go nuts and a white bean chili with chicken to die for. He also is good making veggies (he fries them in veggie oil) that I gobble up. I know - frying bad, but veggies good!

I am thinking about a restraining order, but right now i email his letters to my priest without reading them, and I feel less freaked and more in control. My priest screens them for anything threatening and lets me know not to worry.

I have a split budget - whatever i don't spend on food and groceries can go into the mortgage, and I also will put portions of my refund from the IRS into the mortgage. Whatever I save on monthly bills goes into the unemployment fund or into short term goals (which right now is fixing up my 2000 honda civic).
