Cable, Internet & Phone Service

July 13th, 2013 at 12:20 am

I found out there is a web site called whitefence.com that lets you check for bundled or non-bundled deals on internet, cable, phone, and utilities. I just called my cable company and cut my base price down from $160 to $122 a month for 1 year by negotiating with them about better pricing. I am so excited. I have basic tv cable, but I really need the phone service and internet, so WOOT.

Good on you negotiating successfully for a reduction in cable. One of my favorite tricks has been to set aside 'cost avoidance' like your $ 38. savings on cable which adds to truly significant $ 456. in a year. When you add small bits like sale prices, coupons etc. there are remarkable results.

When I got back from the US, I found that my internet wasn't working. My payment wasn't made for a week, so they shut it down. I went to the phone/cable office, and found that they bill me two months after it's actually due - I don't understand it, either - so I paid for two months, and had connectivity again about two hours later. I bundle internet with a phone (that I don't even know the number to), so I pay about $27 per month less than I would if I didn't have the phone. I don't think any mere human can fully understand cable or cell phone billing plans.

Yeah, I think they idea is they hope people won't price check on available deals when their contracts run out, and many people do, and they slowly keep raising the costs.
